Holly The Plymouth Local History file has been indexed and digitized and can now be found on the S:/ drive under Plymouth Local History. Holly encouraged people to contribute to the Staff Choices blog. She will be placing an order for nametags, so let her know if you need a new one.
Pat We will be having a Garage Sale on April 4 & 5. If there is anything you want to keep, put a note on it, and if you want go get rid of something, put it in the storage area. The Volunteer Luncheon will be on April 25. Box lunches will be served.
Carol During Spring Break, we will have a spy program as well as Edge and Tween programs. There will be a special invitation-only evening storytime on April 9. All of the attendees have agreed to be videotaped. We have a new book entitled Get Those Guys Reading that will make a wonderful reader’s advisory resource for assignments.
Barb Last night’s DIA program was “The Power of Myth.”
Tim The chess program will be held this afternoon. Remains of the Day will be discussed at tomorrow’s Brown Bag Books group. We are currently out of 1040As but have a surplus of all the other forms. Until we get more 1040As, refer people looking for them to the reproducible binders.
Marjorie There are no adult programs scheduled for this week! The next Rhapsody program will feature a quartet, not a trio as advertised. The Author Fair went very well, as did the Senior Care Resources panel discussion. She would like to have Senior Care programs twice a year but would like them to be less commercial. Many attendees appeared to want to be speakers. Marjorie attended the Michigan Historical Society’s fair and got contact info for a number of potential new speakers.
Ron He has had a couple of complaints about machinery noise lately from patrons using the first study room on the upper level. No one else has had patrons complain.
Alice She reminded staff that we do proctoring of exams for residents of Plymouth and Plymouth Twp. only and encouraged staff to ask inquiring patrons where they live before referring them to her.
Katie The Symphony migration has begun. The Clerks have started their training. The Librarians will get invitations from Syrsi/Dynix inviting them to online training soon.
Kathy She went to an Ancestry.com workshop at the Plymouth Historical Museum. People can now access their individual family trees on Library Edition. A useful tip: if you are unsure of the spelling of a person’s name, you can use wildcards. To replace several letters, use “*”; i.e. Wil* for Wilhelm and/or William. To replace one letter, use “?”, i.e. P?tlewski for Petlewski and/or Pytlewski. The new Ed2go database is a hit with patrons. Kathy made bookmarks, and Carol would like flyers. It will be featured in the next newsletter. Rosetta Stone will once again be offering library products. No specifics are available at this time. Kathy taught the first Pinterest class yesterday. Students were enthusiastic. Overdrive is once again refining their interface in response to library feedback. We will not be continuing Book Buzz as staff believes that products such as Wowbrary are far superior.
