Reference Meeting Minutes 1-25-11

The meeting began with a group discussion about Envisionware issues that have arisen so far. Issues include: new PIN numbers, the necessity of clicking on “Accept” to entend your time, not extending time if there is less than a full hour left in the day, inability to combine money already on card and coins for the same print job, print release timing out after 45 seconds of inactivity (move mouse to restart).

Frank -- Tech staff will finish the Teen computers tomorrow and then work on Lab computers.

Holly -- When Jen C. sends updated serials lists, they are definitive. You can also find current info. on periodical subscriptions on the S:/ drive, under “Serials”. Reminded us that we are responsible for taking books off the “New” shelf and removing the labels and changing the Horizon records. If you do not have time to make the changes, ask a Reference Assistant to do it. Do not give the books to Pat C. Kathy’s ebook program is now on our YouTube channel. If patrons who wish to use ebooks need extensive hands-on help with their laptops or ereaders, suggest they come to the Saturday tutoring sessions or refer them to Holly for an appointment with her or Kathy. We will have “touch-n-feel” ereader programs in March/April/May in which patrons may get hands-on experience with the various ereaders.

Katie -- Telemessaging is not working right now so patrons will be receiving their notices via mail or email. She may be working with the “search limits” function on the ipacs.

Marjorie -- Asked about the themes for this year’s SRP. It is Travel. Youth: “One World, Many Stories”; Teen: “You Are Here”; Adult: “Novel Destinations”. Barb’s scrapbook event will be held from 10-4 a week from Saturday .

Susan S. -- Barb is accepting donations for her scrapbooking program. Sue will attend the Museum’s volunteer festival and scout for new indexing volunteers for us. The first newsletter proof should be out later this week. The 10 cent book sale was a huge success.

Evan -- The first Film Club meeting had 9 attendees. Last Wednesday’s movie had a full house.

Carol -- The school district finalized their calendar and the students will have the last week of February off. We will have programs for the kids.

Kathy -- We have 3 ereaders available in the cabinet for staff to play with. See the Staff Blog for a website where you can convert documents to an epub format.
