Carol S. She offered kudos on the SRPs. Overall teen behavior seems improved. The Board is moving ahead with roof and HVAC improvements. Please let Carol know what you have found to be uncomfortable. She is looking into getting a generator to keep essential items functioning in case of a power outage. If possible, try to note if any emergency lights fail to come on when we lose power. On July 23 and Oct. 11, professional photographers will be in the building photographing programs, facilities, and people for future promotional materials. We are starting to look at Macs for our future Digital Media Lab.
Susan S. The newsletter deadline was yesterday but you may still give her any articles/place savers you have. The Friends are happy to report that over 200 Friends Bucks have been redeemed for free books.
Tim Chess Club attendance is up this summer.
Carol C. If possible, try to schedule a librarian at the Youth desk along with interns and RAs. We will raffle off several microscopes and telescopes. There is a limit of one entry per child.
Sue P. So far, we have 115 online Adult SRP registrations and have given out 50 prizes. Contemporary Books meets tonight.
Dana 1338 children have signed up so far for Youth SRP. This is on par with last year’s registrations at this time. Please help newer staff fill out registration cards and program signups. Make sure that people know if they are on a program’s waiting list.
Barb She noted that Community Financial’s “Summer of Sharing” program doesn’t limit the number of grants it gives to any one organization. You need to submit a 150 word description of your program/project needs and they will consider your request. Programs do not have to take place in the summer. “Teen Hot Reads” will be a teen version of our Lucky Day books – no holds, no renewals. The books will not all be new titles, sometimes they may be all the works of a popular author (think John Green). They will share space with the teen magazines and new teen non-fiction. 310 teens have signed up for SRP so far. The prize store opens on Monday. Prizes will be in the display case.
Lauren She and Karen D. will be starting a tween book club for kids in grades 4-7. It will be called “Pizza & Pages” and will meet from 6:30-7:30 on the 3rd Monday of each month.
