Reference Meeting Minutes 7/22/14

Holly - Pages are not included in emails sent to "All Staff." If you want to include Pages, add "Library Pages" from the email address book. If you want to include Substitute Librarians, let Holly know and she will forward the message to their individual accounts.

Lauren - In Evanced, please mark the prizes as received. There have been several accounts that show prizes owed for several weeks in a row, when in fact the children received their prizes each week. Tonight's Edge program is full with a very long waiting list.

Carol C - We have crossed the 1400 mark for SRP sign ups! This is an increase over last year. The letter boxing program is this Thursday. Three letter boxes will stay in the library. This is similar to geocaching, where you follow clues to find them.

Sue - Adult SRP online sign-ups are at 122 and about 100 prizes have been given out.

Tim - Chess Club has had great attendance this summer. He may change the time the group meets in the fall to 3:30-5:30.

Barb - The Teen Lock-In party on 8/9 is only for kids who participated in the Summer Game. They can sign up for the party if they are registered in Evanced. The party will go from 5-9:30pm and will include thins like games, pizza, a movie, a scavenger hunt, grand prize drawings, and ice cream sundaes. A permission slip will be required from each participating teen to attend the lock-in. The slip will be available online soon, and kids can bring it (signed) with them to the party. If teen volunteers are looking for things to do when there is no shelving, they can help alphabetize JDVDs or create origami cranes in the Teen Zone for decorating the space. The materials are out in the Teen Zone to make the origami cranes.

Kathy - Please share your comments on the new staff intranet! A link was emailed to All Staff.

Carol S - The construction proposal was approved by the Library Board. This will include replacement of mechanical equipment like HVAC, a generator, replacing the roof, the main floor ceiling, and front entry step improvements. A binder or file will be available at the reference desk to share all bid and other documents about the project if any patrons would like to see it. Bids will be taken by McCarthy Smith contractors, and their information will be made available on our web site. We have received a $1,000 grant from Community Financial for a maker box that will include digital media equipment. There are now enough candidates for the November ballot for Library Board members. Star Wars Reads Day is October 11. A committee is working on plans for the day. Files and meeting minutes are available on S:\Star Wars Reads Day.
