Holly Crystal Jolly has taken a full-time position across state and her last day with us will be Feb. 24. If you are on the Youth Desk, please check the headphones at the games computers and see if they need untangling. We will soon be offering a new database, Comics Plus, which will allow patrons to stream (not download) comics and graphic novels. Most titles will be adult- and teen-oriented. The fireplace should be fully operational again soon.
Kathy The schedule for March computer classes should be out soon. We will begin offering help with Tablets. Due to program sizes, the Zinio program signup is in the Adult Programming binder and the iPad signup is in the Computer Classes binder.
Alice Books on electrical wiring are now housed in the Home Improvement Collection.
Katie The phone company is looking into the problem we are having with internal voicemail. We will have our first Symphony upgrade beginning at 10:00 am on Feb. 19. Katie will send out an email detailing what we will need to do once it is completed.
Frank He checked with Awe and there is no way to get the new game computers to turn on automatically in the mornings. Frank presented statistical information on how much faster the new test computer is than our existing PACs. New computers are on order.
Barb The Blind Date with a Book display is ready. Entry forms and prizes are in the RA desk closest to the Teen Zone. Teen Volunteer badges will be kept near the Volunteer Signup binder. If you see a teen who is volunteering, make sure they are wearing one. There will be a list of different volunteer jobs they can do in their binder. Next week is school break.
Susan S. The Friends’ Children’s Book Sale is today. AARP tax preparation started last week. More than 200 appointments have been taken so far. The newsletter proof is here.
Lauren The Playaway Bookpacks have arrived and are just awaiting catalog records. They will be shelved between cdbooks and media kits. The 398s are in the process of being reorganized into country of origin.
Marjorie March program signup sheets are now in the Adult Programming binder. We have 24 authors confirmed for the Mar. 29 Author Fair. There will be a Senior Care Resources program on Mar. 31. Sunday’s Rhapsody performers, The Barbershop Chorus, celebrated veterans in the audience and Marjorie may have them back for a Veteran’s Day program. Main level display areas are available on one side for May-Aug. Barb will take June and July for Teen SRP promotion.
Carol C. We will offer Edge and school-age programs next week during the school break. Carol, Suzy, Lauren and Sara will be attending an Unconference next week. Preschools on Parade will be Feb. 25.
Tim Tax forms are all in but we have not yet received reproducibles.
Carol S. Reference USA training will be held next week. On Apr. 14, we will host a SCORE program in which they will be recruiting new volunteers. Tomorrow a new landscape architect will be selected. Canton PL was closed part of last week. Staff mentioned that they noticed the increased usage here.
