Holly Holly’s most important piece of Zinio advice is to check books out in the browser and then read them in the app. Help patrons as best you can and if someone needs more intensive help, they can make an appointment to have a one-on-one session with her. There are a few new devices in the drawer at RA. Please take a look at them.
Kathy In December, more people accessed our web page using their iPhones than any other device. iPad classes are “going swimmingly”. We will have another class on Feb. 19. On Feb. 25, we will offer drop-in eReader help. We will need to add a regular class on tablet devices. We will not be subscribing to Rosetta Stone online as they have raised their price to $9000.
Carol S. We will be having another training session on Business Reference products. We currently have three roof leaks. In anticipation of further leaks, there are now “wet” supplies such as plastic sheeting and containment vessels on each floor. (See Sandy’s email for specific locations.) If you see any new wet spots, let someone in Administration know immediately. We will be gathering statistics for our wireless use for the first time this year. The annual board meeting is next Tuesday.
Frank Please try out the new mini-computer at the PAC Kiosk and let him know what you think of it.
Lauren A couple of patrons have asked if we are going to be circulating tablets. Carol S. said that it will be discussed.
Tim Some tax materials have come in but no forms or instructions yet.
Marjorie The Author Fair has 24 authors scheduled and, due to room constraints, we are not accepting any others.
Carol C. We have several science programs coming up: three with U-M and three with New Morning School. There is no signup required for our MLK Day program. Preschools on Parade is coming up in February.
Barb The STEM program on Feb. 13 will involve real sheep hearts. NHS tutors will be in the Teen Zone study room for brief help during Exam Cram. It will take place this Sat-Sun from 1-5 and Mon-Wed from 6-9 and will likely spill out from the Teen Zone. Healthy snacks will be provided. There will be no regular tutoring appointments that week. FYI, NHS tutors are not here on snow days or any other non-school days. Trails Edge Cyclery will do a program on tuning up your bike on Mar. 8.
Susan S. Canton PL won a Community Awareness award and will use the funds for a survey looking into both the library and leisure service desires of its community. The next newsletter deadline is Jan. 21. The meeting room projector is back and ready to use. We will be ordering a new screen. The Plymouth Democrats will host a clothing drive in the Friends Room next Mon. from 10-5.

Sue P. Contemporary Books meets tonight. The author of Annie’s Ghost will be speaking at Schoolcraft College later this month.
Katie Katie asked if there were any questions about 2014 budgets. There were none.
Alice Chilton’s is no longer publishing their service manuals in paper format. We do have access to the Chilton’s Library database, however it contains very little information on new domestic vehicles. Kathy P. will look into the database that Dearborn PL is using and see if it might have better coverage.
