Carol S. Carol thanked everyone for the warm welcome. She will be going to Canton, Northville and TLN with Pat tomorrow, and has a TLN meeting on Friday. She will also be presenting a session on expanding technology in mid-size libraries at MLA next week, and will be out of the building Tuesday-Friday. Carol congratulated Kathy P. on her successful Wilcox grant proposal and mentioned that the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs (MCACA) has grant opportunities available with a usual annual deadline of October 1.
Carol C. We are participating in Metronet’s Everybody’s Reading program but will not be doing any special programs here to support it. We do have tickets to the external author talks available at Reader’s Advisory. This is the last week of storytime until November.
Sue P. Annie’s Ghost is the Great Michigan Read and the Contemporary Books Group will be discussing it tonight. As books are returned, they will be kept near the poster at RA. We will be having the Friends of Eloise program on October 22.

Dana We will be having an Edge-age Zombie Party on October 12 and a Halloween Magic Party on October 26. Third grade visits have begun.
Susan S. As a partner with Michigan Libraries for Life, this week we will be signing up people to be Organ & Tissue Donors. Susan will be conducting a new volunteer orientation soon. If you have any tasks a volunteer could do, however big or small, let her know.
Alice Last night’s Face Reading program was a success, with many of the 49 attendees asking to have the speaker back again for another program. Low Vision Solutions, our magnifier source, has closed. We, and Nancy Simmons’s other customers, may still contact her for advice or warranty issues at 877-277-1127. If any patrons ask where they can purchase magnifiers that they have tried out here, refer them to Alice. She’ll be happy to help them locate of source for the item they want.
Kathy Signup for the Medicare Part D programs is brisk. Please remind people to bring their actual prescriptions or a list of their prescriptions with dosages indicated. Holly and Mary Kelly will be assisting with the programs. Overdrive will allow renewals beginning this week. People may renew items with no holds up to three days prior to their initial due date. Only one renewal per item is allowed. New items on Overdrive include local Plymouth history books. A new book entitled Plymouth’s Air Rifle Industry will be published in print form tomorrow. Kathy will get us copies. Genealogy program signups are going well. We will have an eReader buying guide-type program sometime in December. We now have a new Google Nexus tablet to try out. Kathy’s Wilcox grant proposal has been funded. The topic will be the history of education in Plymouth. Carol noted that she was just told that Wilcox has other grant opportunities available, as well.
