Reference Meeting Minutes 10/9/12

Holly                We have a new portal to business resources called InsYght.  There is a link to it on our Business Resources page.  You need to create an account in order to use it.  Holly will create a staff account for us to use to show this to patrons.  (UPDATE:  It is email address: info@plymouthlibrary.org and password: pdltrain).   We will have a WSU observer named Linda Brewin with us every Thursday in October. If you plan on asking for time off around Thanksgiving or Christmas, please check the TORFs already submitted.  Time off is tight, particularly around Christmas. 

Pat                   Otis thinks that they have fixed our ongoing elevator problem.  Please leave Pat a note with the date and time of any future elevator issues, though.

Barb                 Papercraftapalooza was a success.  The speaker for the last DIA program did not show up.  The next DIA program is entitled “Merriment”. 

Tim                  Chess Club meets this afternoon.  Tim has updated the printable forms for the Michigan Family Law and the Michigan Basic Practice Handbook.  They are both in folders inside the Staff Shared folder on the S: Drive.

Sue P.              It is National Reading Group Month.  Encourage folks looking at the Book Club Kits to fill out our survey and let Susan S. know if one of them is willing to have their photo taken with the Book Club Kits.

Marjorie            There was a full house for Sunday’s Rhapsody program entitled “Big Band Memories”. The Main St. Opera Theater will be the program on Veteran’s Day.  There is also a War of 1812 program coming up.

Lauren              READ is going well.  There is a 2-3 month waitlist.

Susan S.          The Voter’s Guide is up on our web page.  Paper copies will be available on Oct. 12.  The organ donation program went well.  The newsletter deadline is Oct. 16.  The Caregiver Support Groups will not meet this month.  Evening meeting room space is completely booked this month and next.  If you see a room sitting empty when a group is scheduled to be using it, please let Susan know.

Carol                She will be going to the Michigan Humanities Council Showcase tomorrow.  The Youth reference collection has been weeded.  Please write legibly when signing up children for programs.

Cathy L.           Next Friday, 60 Central Middle School children will be here getting tours and using the computers.  On Oct. 24, the middle schoolers’ parents will be coming in to learn about resources for their kids.  Next week is Teen Read Week.  The Short Story entry forms go in the Teen SRP drawer at Reader’s Advisory.

Kathy P.           The Medicare Part D programs begin next week.  Refer people with bigger insurance issues (i.e. Medigap) to Betty Hughes of The Senior Alliance.  FISH of Plymouth is now defunct.  On Dec. 12, we will have a program on picking the best eReader for your needs.  Kathy will do a program in January on using your new eReader.
