Holly -- Audrey, a student from Wayne State will be here over the next week. She will have an opportunity to work at all three help desks. All were asked to empty their own recycle bins – at either of the larger recycle bins near the staff copy machines on the main and lower levels. Colored paper and glossy paper can be put in the bins.
Pat -- Pat has received a list of all TLN libraries with their class size and population. Look for it on the s:drive or on the lower level staff bulletin board.
Marjorie -- The Author Fair will be held on Saturday, March 31. A list of all participating authors can be found on our website. There is not room for any additional authors; please send inquiring authors to Marjorie.
Frank -- Frank reported that the printer at Reader’s Advisory is broken and inquired about what type of replacement printer. It was agreed that it would be nice to have a color printer there; if a patron needs a very quick print, use the laser printer. Frank provided an update on our new spam filter. He distributed a list of staff members who have been receiving the most spam. Frank was pleased to report that during a recent 9 day period, over 10,000 emails were received; only 1,096 were good – all others blocked by spam. Eventually all staff members will manage their own spam and filtering.
Sue P. -- Sue reported that 30 people attended our Beloved/Waterland book talk. Both professors did an outstanding job and we’d be glad to have them back at a future time. Next program in this mini-series is with Dr. Eiss and his thoughts about censorship and intellectual freedom; it will take place on March 7. Sue reminded all that Sandra Brown tickets are still available and are at RA.
Cathy -- Hunger Games program is coming up on Saturday, March 10. Please promote it to teens. Cathy inquired about Summer Reading and our move to have it online. Carol mentioned Evanced tutorial on SRP.
Tim -- Please let Tim know if there are any tax forms that are not available but requested frequently.
Dana -- Dana reminded all to take note when a cart of books is just placed back by the storytime room – it should be taken to youth help desk to be put in order. Dr. Seuss birthday party is this Saturday, March 3 – please talk it up. Lastly, Dana reminded all to fill out storytime sign-ups completely.
Susan -- Susan mentioned newest displays in main and lower level display cases. One of our used book volunteers has brought in her extensive Dr. Seuss collection – please direct patrons to take a look. A blood drive is scheduled for March 22. A food drive by the Plymouth Lions Club will take place March 1-16 with collection boxes in our lobby. Please consider making a donation of any non-perishable food items. Susan will be out of town March 2-10. Please take any meeting room messages and she will return calls when she gets back.
