Reference Meeting Minutes 12/13/11

Holly -- We will soon be using the Fax24 self-service fax service. Holly is working on developing a comprehensive collection development policy. If you have suggestions, please let her know.

Dana -- Youth will offer four programs during the holiday break: Game Night, Fitness, Leathercraft, and an Open House Craft. No registration is necessary for the Open House Craft.

Carol -- We will be hosting a Child ID program. We are not conducting the program but we are registering participants for it. We will once again be participating in the U-M Exhibit programs. These will run from Jan.-Mar. and will have the theme of Fitness. Please promote this.

Marjorie -- There is an opening for a lobby display in February. Let her know if you would like to put something up. The Jan. 8 Rhapsody program will be an interactive Drum Circle, with all participants provided with a drum. This program can be found under Family Events on the web calendar. Marjorie gave the TLN Adult Services meeting report.

Cathy L. -- Please confirm ages of registrants for the Teens, Friends and Family Game Night. Youth is having a similar program and we want to make sure that folks are signed up for the right one. The College Money program was well attended.

Susan S. -- Last Friday, a patron was found slumped in a chair, having a heart attack. 911 was called and the patron is recovering. Thanked everyone for signing the volunteers’ holiday cards. We have our first display in the new main level display case – a patron’s collection of ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas books. If a patron has a collection they would like to display, give them Susan’s phone number.

Alice -- Thanked everyone for helping out in her absence.

Evan -- Film Club will be showing part II of The Aviator. Next Wednesday’s movie will be The Help.

Frank -- The new Internet computers do not have floppy drives. He has a couple of portable floppy drives that we will keep locked in the upper desk drawer at Reference. Librarians will hold IDs when lending them out. Frank showed us the new Envisionware time extension messages. Discussion ensued over phrasing of the warning message and it will be revised.
