Facebook Places and Foursquare are location-based social networks that allow people to check in to public places so that their friends know exactly where they are. The cool thing about this for businesses is that it is free advertising. It puts the business name in social networking streams for more people to see. We want to capitalize on this marketing too! Stacy is going to administer a new check-in game for our patrons.
Here are the rules:
1. The person who checks in the most times on either Facebook or Foursquare each month wins a $1.00 value prize. The goal is to get people to come to the library and check-in on our social networking sites several times each month - which also lets all their friends know they were here and that we have a presence on Facebook and Foursquare!
2. Sorry, staff are ineligible.
3. The same person cannot win two months in a row. They have to wait three months before they can win again. We don't want this to be a one-person game! Stacy will keep track.
4. Winners can choose from these $1.00 value items:
-One cup of coffee/tea/cocoa from the public coffee machine. To redeem, take change out of the envelope at the circulation desk or use the coffee machine key in the Readers Advisory desk drawer to get quarters out of the coffee machine itself.
-One pair of ear buds. Redeem at circulation desk where they are sold.
-One extra day on a 1-day movie. Redeem at circulation desk at time of check-out.
-10 pages free computer print-outs. $1.00 will be added to the winner’s account at any Computer Assistance desk.
-Up to $1.00 in fines waived. Redeem at circulation desk.
5. Prizes must be redeemed all at once. For example, if you only have 60 cents in fines, you only get 60 cents waived. You can't save the other 40 cents for later, and no cash back as "change."
6. Prize must be redeemed by due date on certificate (6 months from date received).
7. Stacy is in charge of administering the game. She decides who the winner is, contacts them, creates the prize certificates, and coordinates getting the prize to the winner. She will also promote the game.
Stacy will set up a folder at the Reader Advisory desk where certificates and game winners will be listed. Whoever is at the RA desk when the winner comes in to claim their prize will find it there. Certificates for winners will already be filled out - just give it to the winner.
The game is slated to begin on April 1, with the first winner to be announced on May 1.
Please bring your questions to Stacy or Holly!
