Holly -- The automated reference counter should be in place sometime next month. A part-time librarian is needed to serve on the Personnel Committee. This requires attending a few meetings a year, plus a couple of Board meetings. See Diane if you are interested. If the canopy lights on the front porch or the lights at the staff exit are out, the relevant circuit breakers are labeled in the Janitor’s Room. The spring schedules for MLA and MCLS workshops are online. Let Holly know if you want to attend any programs. The PLA Virtual Symposium will be running in the Dunning Room on Mach 30. Holly will put a list of programs in our mailboxes. Let her know which ones you would like to attend so she can arrange desk coverage. Holly and Kathy P. met with representative from the Canton Library to discuss collaborating on computer classes. We may have open enrollment for Plymouth/Canton residents in the fall.
Pat -- When you need to fill out a Mileage Reimbursement form, print it off the Intranet as rates change often. Use the table of standard mileage for relevant trips or print out a Mapquest map with mileage noted to/from the library, not your home, for other places. Please remember to get purchase orders for items not ordered in one of our standard ways. See Diane with questions and Sandy for POs. The humming we hear in the meeting rooms may be from the PA system. If you hear it when you’re in the room, let Pat know where it seems to be coming from. We had an incident last Friday wherein a patron called the Police due to a threatening remark he heard made by a patron. Pat spoke with the Police Chief about how we and the Police can best work together. They will announce their presence when they come in and the LIC will be notified. When the Police leave, they will let the LIC know what happened unless it is an emergency situation or it involves personal information about the individual being confronted. The LIC should fill out an Incident Report as an FYI and in case follow-up is needed. MLA has posted a position paper on their website regarding the usefulness of the library. We may post it on our Web page.
Frank -- Internet computers have been set so that browser history is cleared at the end of each session. The PDF printing problem may be solved soon. Will be changing the remote login for the Staff Intranet in March.
Susan S. -- The newsletter should be out by the end of the week. The Volunteer Luncheon will be held on April 14. Attended a webinar on using email for marketing purposes.
Tim -- Appreciates everyone’s patience with tax form issues. More forms are on order.
Marjorie -- Noted many upcoming programs and said that the program signup binder is ready for the newsletter’s release. Dates for the eReader programs are now in the binder, as well. For the Landscaping series, all 5 programs are on one page. Just check off the dates the patrons wish to attend. The Investing program will be 1 1/12 hours but people can sign up for individual 20 minute counseling sessions. If they signup for those, give them the relevant worksheets. We have 11 authors confirmed for the April 2 Author Day. World Music has a new subcategory – Latin Pop.
Kathy P. -- Ordered M-rated video games for PS3 and Xbox360 systems. They will be housed with the other Main Level games.
In attendance: Bussard, Elkin, Ferguson, Hibner, McCardell, Page, Patterson, Petlewski, Sadler, Sherman, Stoney, Thomas
