Gale has come out with some really nice features on their newly improved General OneFile (formerly Infotrac OneFile) database. To me, the most useful is the ability to create "alerts" which may either be e-mailed to you or patrons, or by RSS Feeds. Simply put, imagine you are looking for a very specific topic - one which you are interested in over a long period of time. You now have the ability to save that search, and Gale will notifiy you (email or RSS) each time a new item under that topic is added to the database. This saves you the time of re-creating the search on a regular basis, only to find nothing new has been published. You may choose to have updates e-mailed to you on a weekly or monthly basis. RSS feeds will be updated constantly. If you are interested in setting up a simple RSS reader, just ask me!

I love the new feature of having updates either emailed to you or sent by RSS feeds! That will save time, and it's a great tool.
