Holly The new Sunday sign-up sheet will be available soon. If you are an LIC, please sign up for an LIC slot so we have sufficient coverage. This week’s Symphony trainings will take place in the Computer Lab.
Pat We have gotten a few complaints about folks from the Observer interviewing people on the Library steps. We regard this as good publicity for the Library and the Observer people are not violating any of our policies. The most relevant policies would be those barring people from soliciting, circulating petitions, or passing out literature on Library grounds. The Observer people are doing none of these things. If patrons complain to you, please try to soothe them and if that does not work, refer them to Pat.
Carol In conjunction with the SRP theme of “Dig into Reading”, a children’s garden will be planted by volunteers this weekend.
Marjorie We have a Money Smart program tonight. We will be starting two new series of programs, one on travel called “Destination: ______” and one that is a subset of the Rhapsody series called “Prelude:_______”. Our yoga/meditation classes will resume in June.
Tim Tax season is over! The chess program is this afternoon. Attendance is up. Tomorrow’s Brown Bag Books selection is The Song of Achilles.
Cathy L. There will be another STEM program tomorrow. We have had very good feedback on this series of programs. Cathy is working on the Teen SRP.
Susan S. There is one more week left for the Food Drive. The Brownie Troop from Bird School made a huge donation of canned goods. The Michigan Notable Author will be speaking here at 1pm on Sunday. Signups are low, so please help publicize it. The Volunteer Luncheon is Thursday. Staff is encouraged to attend. The Book/Garage sale made $1500.
Frank We have had a number of problems with the Teen computers being unplugged. Please be extra alert in this area. Frank thinks that the Envisionware issues have been resolved. The program is working faster and patrons can once again access their accounts.
Kathy P. She gave a brief report on her Computers in Libraries conference. It really drove home the point that “you are not your patron” and the fact that what we do should be all about the user experience. Mobile websites are the future and we need responsive web design. That means that the web page should be able to reflow to the device that it is being viewed on.
