Reference Meeting Minutes 5-10-11

Holly -- The next reference meeting (5/24) will be the SRP-palooza. We got a new camcorder through Campbell’s Soup Label program. I records in HD and does not require the Flip software. Feel free to try it out.

Pat T. -- Asked if we had had any feedback from Romulus patrons. No one had. Since their library is now closed, their library cards are marked “expired” in Horizon and they do not having borrowing privileges.

Carol -- The Youth Department is now in charge of the aquarium. If you tend to the aquarium (i.e. floating fish removal) please note it in the Fish log that is housed in the program registration binder. Asked that we keep the water pitchers in one place. They will be labeled and kept in a kitchen cabinet. Still working on Kindergarten Roundup. Frank asks that we please remember to turn off the printers at the service desks as part of our closing routine.

Lauren -- The READ program was full again last night. We now have two dogs participating. One is much larger than the other. Mention this to parents as they sign their kids up. If the kids will be afraid of the bigger dog, note on the signup sheet that they want to be paired with the smaller dog.

Susan S. -- Our new data projectors came today. They are hooked up on the carts and ready to go. Tech staff will make instruction sheets for their use. Kathy asked that the carts be checked to make sure that they are ready to use each time before they are put in the meeting rooms for groups to use. The newsletter proof went out last night. Should get the revised one back later this week. Janet Macunovich will speak at the Friends Annual Meeting next Tuesday.

Barb -- The SRP youth website should be ready this week.

Cathy L. -- Will be having surgery next week and will be out for a little while. SRP materials are ready. Lauren will do the Teen SRP presentation at our next meeting.

Sue -- The Michigan Humanities Council selected Arc of Justice by Kevin Boyle as the next Great Michigan Reads book. Sue and Tim will be working on programming. Sue is working on the Adult SRP program.

In attendance: Baker, Bussard, Champagne, Dinan, Elkin, Hibner, Lichtman, McCardell, Page, Patterson, Petlewski, Sadler, Stoney, Thomas.
