Trial for Gale Virtual Reference Library
We have a trial for the Gale Virtual Reference Library that will run through the end of October. Please take a look at the offerings in your particular subject area. In my meeting with the sales rep yesterday, she stressed the cross-database searching aspects of this product. I mentioned that many of the virtual books were slightly older and she said they were meant to be used in conjunction with journal & magazine articles that present the up-to-date info. With Gale's new power search, patrons would automatically have access to any information within all Gale products we offer (with the exception of Chiltons.) Canton PL has purchased a large number of these titles, so you might want to just see what they have, although you can't search without a Canton card. We can discuss your impressions at a later reference meeting. Find the link and password to the trial on the Database Trials page on the Intranet.

I like this new database because it offers so many of the reference books that we probably have pulled from our shelves.
However, I wonder if patrons will like a database that just retrieves book sources?
