Marjorie – The Low Vision Info Session will request sign-ups for their December meeting. They are having musicians, and are inviting previous speakers, regular attendees, their families/guests, and the general public. There is a sign-up sheet in the binder at Readers Advisory.

Frank – The upper level patron color printer has been replaced.
There will be a new PAC computer for staff to demo soon. We will be able to test it to make sure it will be fast enough to replace our current PACs.
On Sunday 12/15, Frank and Katie will need to take down Symphony for a system backup until 11:00am.
If someone needs more time after their allotted five hours per day, it's ok to give them a guest pass as long as there are computers available. If they have not yet logged out from their fifth hour, you can add time to their library card. If they have already logged out from their fifth hour, you'll have to give them a guest pass.
Carol S – She will stay late sometimes and may attend programs. Please introduce her if she’s at your program.
She passed around the current Rules of Conduct policy, which will also be available at the service desks. She and the Board will work on making updates to it, but for now we can continue to follow this policy. Copies can be offered to patrons as needed.
Please fill out an incident report whenever a patron is asked to leave the building for any reason. Get their name if you can.
Tim – Chess Club is today. He is working on attendance issues.
Lauren – Odeh did a great job with her Lego program last Thursday.
Circus vouchers are available until the circus comes to The Palace this weekend.
Carol C – If you see Bayley Cutshaw, please let Carol Champagne know. Bayley needs to speak with Carol Souchock, and will be banned from the library for a week. Carol Champagne will facilitate the meeting with Carol Souchock, but needs to know if we see Bayley around.
There is a Thanksgiving craft program planned on 11/30 called “Leftover Crafts.”
Third grade visits went well. Three schools attended.
Barb – Thanks for “crowd control” help in the Teen Zone.
We are expecting two NHS tutors each Wednesday and Thursday, and they will take four half-hour appointments each. If all appointment slots are filled up, email the patron info to Barb. She will try to get another tutor the next week and set up an appointment for them. Appointments are encouraged and requested, and patrons can sign up for future appointments as far out as we have sign-up sheets available. Walk-ins are not encouraged, but will get any slots opened due to cancellations.
On Teen Book Club sign-up sheets, “Book?” means did the teen get a copy of the book. “Called?” means did the teen get a reminder call. Each available copy of teen book club titles has someone’s name on it. Just give them their copy and then check the “Book?” column next to their name. Students are getting extra credit for attending the Sci-fi book club, but must earn tickets for participation points at the book discussion, which they will turn in to their teacher for extra credit.
Central Middle School visits are going to be a regular occurrence. Thanks to the Circulation staff for their help with the first round. Now that a lot of those kids have library cards, they should be easier in the future.
Sue P. – Contemporary Books meets tonight.
The Great Michigan Read is winding down. It was successful, with all copies of the books circulating and the programs well attended. She will start changing copies back to their regular shelving locations and circulation policies as they trickle in.
Susan S. – Volunteer Orientation is tomorrow. If you need reminder calls done for programming, let her know if you want volunteers to do it.
Susan and Marjorie will represent the library at the Health Fair at the Cultural Center.
AARP appointments for tax help will resume in 2014. They will start taking appointments on January 2 for February 1 through the end of tax season.
Kathy – Medicare Part D programs are going well. There are three more weeks with slots available on each program date.
On December 3 she will offer a program about selecting a tablet device as a holiday gift. In January she is offering three more programs: iPads, Kindle Fires, and Android devices.
There will be no formal computer classes in December. There is a drop-in tutoring session scheduled for 12/14, and we may add one more on 12/7.
