Holly - Holly reminded all about shelf reading. Reference assistants and interns will be assigned times, but help needed by all – especially in youth non-fiction. Heather and Hayatt (our new reference assistants) and Karen (our new librarian) are in training and scheduled on the desks.
Dana - Edge movie night is tonight “Escape from Planet Earth” at 6:30p.m.
Barb - The swrap up party for Teen SRP went very well last night with 22 in attendance. SRP prizes for teens will still be available for a few more weeks. DIY has been renamed “Make it @ the Library” and will be refocused away from just crafts to include building, mechanics, cooking and more. National Honor Society has been in touch with Barb about expanded opportunities for teens in the coming school year.
Marjorie - Our music offerings will now fall into 2 categories – Prelude programs will be about music; Rhapsody programs will be actual music performances. Taiko Drumming will take place tomorrow night, August 14. Stress Busters program – Music for Relaxation will take place on Saturday, August 17. Signup sheets for all September events are in the binder at RA. TLN fall workshop is Library Awareness and Marketing, to take place at the Novi Public Library on October 2.
Sue P. - Adult SRP has wrapped up, with just a few folks still to pick up their prizes. 228 patrons have picked up their prizes thus far, with more Bingo participation than Evanced.
Carol - SRP numbers for 2013 are exactly the same as 2012 – 1378 kids participating. Edge participation was up – most likely due to the Kindle prizes we were able to offer. Participation doubled for the non-fiction part of the summer reading program. Open houses are scheduled and coming up end of the month. In October we will be holding an all-family magic program, the Saturday before Halloween.
Susan - Newsletter proof #2 will be going around the building tomorrow. Editing is needed to fit all content. A community Boy Scout pack will be utilizing our computer lab for some scout leader training later in the month or early September.
